A little bit of luck and a lot of work... Learned tech and sales with IBM when it was the most extraordinary company in the world (mid '60s); then spent the next 50 years as a serial tech entrepreneur, the last 15 of which have been advising startups and other small businesses. Invented and built several creative software-based businesses. such as TeleMagic, the first CRM product (1985). TeleMagic had no loans, equity financing, or co-founders. Very rewarding exit in 1992. See "Experience" below for other tech businesses, and even a startup bank. Got out of that just in time. Now I advise against doing a banking startup. :) Currently working on two products: 1. A web app, using Google sheets, in development for 2.5 years, available now in beta. Inspired by Atul Gawande's great book "The Checklist Manifesto" and Charles Duhigg's "The Power of Habit".
