About Me

Amanda “Barrie” Black, MPH joined the Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI) team in 2012. Currently, she serves as Program Manager where she leads several projects throughout the Gulf Coast Region primarily focusing on capacity building, social determinants of health, community resilience, and primary care system improvements. From the time Barrie joined the healthcare field in 2006 as a medic, her work has centered on community outreach, program planning, implementation, research and evaluation striving to improve health outcomes in her community. She obtained a Master of Public Health from Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and Bachelor of Arts from Providence College in Rhode Island.
