A filter press machine uses pressure to squeeze water from liquid-based materials, leaving solids behind. The materials, sometimes called pulp, are placed between two layers of filter cloths and squeezed between an upper and lower plate. The thickness of the liquid will determine how much pressure needs to be applied to remove all the water from the pulp; different types of filter press machines have different amounts of pressure they can apply, based on the amount of force they can exert on the plates that sandwich the pulp
