Sitara Morgenster

Professional Mosaic maker (abstract freestyle)

Arts and Crafts, Northland, New Zealand

About Me

From PR to journalism to translating to healthcare worker to... professional mosaics maker! Turned pro after 14 years of practise, experimenting and self-study of the breathtaking, ancient medium of mosaics. I create abstract, freestyle wall hangings for galleries and exhibitions and for home decor specialist stores. Sometimes I take on private commissions (memorial pieces, floor coverings, back-splashes, letterboxes, porches, fire places, bathrooms, driveways, garden panels, you name it). I'm particularly drawn to and inspired by the works and style of Ilana Shafir and Friedensreich Hundertwasser, as well as Lee Krasner. I my spare time, I still write articles, biographies and songs, play the viola & sing, and care for two beautiful, crazy dogs. I also volunteer for the Tushita Charitable Trust and many of its various projects. I left the Netherlands in 1994 to live and work in Oman, England (London) and Scotland respectively. In 2001, I moved to New Zealand where I settled in order to be able to be an active student of the living spiritual master Yanchiji.
