I have trained in electrophysiology and neurophysiology close to ten years now. In the early years I began working with evoked potentials measured from cell membranes that were elicited by the application of different neurotransmitter. The purpose of these studies were to described the mechanism of action of a neuroprotective compound through the alpha7 nicotinic receptor. These work led to my Master in Science thesis defense. In the more recent years I joined a company that apply evoked potentials and neurophysiological recordings to measure the neural integrity of patients undergoing risky surgeries. Using the acquired knowledge I began a PhD program in neurophysiology in which I was able to apply the recordings techniques in an animal model of stroke. The goal is to measure neuroprotection capabilities of compounds by generating a measurable quantitative data. My life goal is to continue expanding my knowledge while developing new skills that can be useful for the advancement of the neuroscience field.
