* A well-rounded communications business leader with more than 25 years' experience, including nearly 20 years in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry. * Well-versed in the core aspects of communications and public relations, serving as both a strategist and tactician. Possesses deep and varied experience in communications strategy, media relations, issues management and employee, financial and product communications. * Enjoys complex, fast-evolving organizations. * Currently serves as Head of Communications and Public Affairs (ad interim) at Shire, responsible for leading a 90-plus person team responsible for global strategic planning and execution of internal and external communications, corporate branding and responsibility, disease awareness initiatives as well as policy, government relations and patient advocacy for Shire. Reports to CEO. * Before Shire, served as Communications Lead for Pfizer’s Worldwide Business Development and Innovation (WBDI) Division, responsible for both internal and external communications and a member of the divisional leadership team. Assumed role in August 2010 after serving as Pfizer’s corporate spokesperson for the Specialty Care Business Unit. Also was a corporate spokesperson for Pfizer, serving on the corporate media relations team. * Joined Pfizer following the company’s acquisition of Wyeth in October 2009. At Wyeth, led product brand PR and issues management for the Pharma Business Unit, which was Wyeth’s largest business unit. * Other Public Affairs experience includes roles of increasing responsibility and scope at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Transamerica Financial Services, Merck and Tyco. * Earned a B.A. in Communications from Washington State University; and an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School. * Key strengths include: strategic planning and execution, change communications, media relations, executive coaching and building high-performing teams and trust-based relationships.
