The problem we solve: Behavioral health is a global chronic health issue that impacts many health conditions. According to the WHO, stress, anxiety and depression are major problems in + 60 countries. In the U.S. 18% of adults have a mental, behavioral, or emotional disorder. 40MM Americans suffer from stress, anxiety and depression. The clinical environment lacks the necessary resources to provide effective treatment. Per Milliman +$525B is spent on costs directly associated with behavioral health. For payers, we help manage risk by scaling access to a mental health tool that improves clinical outcomes at lower costs by longitudinally engaging patients in self-care. For health systems, we also can identify high-risk individuals and provide care documentation capabilities which easily integrate into current their workflow and help them meet requirements of outcomes-based contracts. For pharma we are an adjunct digital therapeutic used to improve adherence and compliance.
About our solution: Recognized as international healthcare leaders by organizations such as the U.S. State Department, Litesprite is a game platform that helps patients manage and mitigate the effects of behavioral health, cancer, and diabetes. Clinicians rely on our data to help their patients achieve better results. Our clinically validated mental health videogame Sinaprite has validated reimbursement in 4 care-settings and an economic impact of 17 QALY/1000 patients. Sinasprite uses evidence-based treatment methods, including CBT-based and mindfulness strategies, to help people manage stress, anxiety, and depression. We are the only videogame used by payers and clinicians today. Bayer Pharmaceuticals is our most recent investor and partner. We have won +20 global health innovation awards including the first videogame to receive a U.S. Surgeon General Award and Puget Sound Business Journal’s Innovators of the Year.

COVID Problem We Address
Globally the need for mental health support has dramatically increased. Yet the existing care delivery gaps still exist. The need for affordable and accessible clinically-validated self-help tools has never been greater. This need is confirmed by employers who have reached out to us for better solutions than telehealth and EAP services. They are receiving increasing employee reports of anxiety, depression, & stress due to self-isolation and additional personal responsibilities. Furthermore, with physical distancing, clinicians now need tools that allow them to remotely monitor and deliver care at scale.
Our COVID Solution
Litesprite's free product offerings are poised to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak:
"I use it daily lately because I cannot calm myself down.” – F, 48, Bipolar & Depression.
Since COVID-19, the Puget Sound Business Journal recognized that we “stepped forward to reimagine how we support each other through a crisis.” We are included in CredibleMind, NYCWell, an initiative led by the First Lady of NYC, and several state COVID-19 resource lists.
Since 3/10, our usage is skyrocketing. +265 individuals have organically downloaded Sinasprite and 2 clinics started using our clinical monitoring solutions and weekly active users and sessions is up 3-4X. We help individuals and frontline providers with their anxiety, depression, and impacts of isolation.
“I am NYCDOHMH Office of School Health. I downloaded Sinasprite to my phone and I have been hanging out with Socks the Fox. I love the Mandalas. Thank you.” - Lisette Kra, R.N., Public Health Nurse, NYCDOHMH, Office of School Health.
We are changing people’s lives by giving them easy access to important mental health tools during this global pandemic and beyond.
Intellectual Property Summary
Similar to other software products and games, our tacit and subject matter expertise has been built into our product. This has translated into longitudinal engagement.
Clinical Information
1. Independent clinical validation with our JMIR paper of our mental health video game Sinasprite. Read about it in MedCityNews and Geekwire.
2. U.S. Army Study results were presented the North American Primary Care Research Group's Annual Meeting and resulted in a U.S. Surgeon Finanical Award.
3. The University of Washington Primary Care Innovation Lab Economic Impact Study projects Sinasprite’s clinical results has an economic impact of $1MM or 17 QALY/1000 patients.
4. Our clinical results have been presented at Stanford Medicine X, Health Plan Association, American Psychiatric Association's Annual Meeting (’17, ’18), Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy's Annual Meeting, SXSW (’15,’18), and Singularity University.
Regulatory Status
Per FDA guidance we have received to date and the consistent general guidance that has been issued, we are not considered a medical device and are exempt from requiring approval. However we do intend to apply for FDA approval as a digital therapeutic. The pathway would be similar to how Welldoc (the first moble health app to receive FDA clearance) treaded on their course to FDA clearance.
How we will use the funds raised
The funding will cover operational costs so we can continue to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak and provide complimentary access to essential mental health tools and services internationally. We made Sinasprite and our clinical remote patient monitoring solutions free to individuals, healthcare providers, and health plans.
Funding will further our product development, sales and marketing activities, and staffing. Within product development, we can enhance our patient montioring capabilities, begin to build our predictive analytics alogrithms, and develop digital biomarkers. Funding would also allow us to meet product demand from a new customer base. We are being contacted by employers whose employees are reporting significant increase of anxiety due to isolation and personal responsibilities.
Thank You
We have changed people’s lives – including the underserved. With COVID-19, we help individuals and frontline providers with their anxiety, depression, and impacts of isolation. They regularly trust, enjoy, and use our accessible independently clinically-validated mental health tools.
“When you live alone – you have to find other ways to do things to not be lonely or bored. It is so awesome. I really like it. When I have things on my mind the journaling is very helpful. I like to watch Socks make things float away or put things in the box. It is very intense. Keeps your mind thinking.” - F,46, Bipolar I disorder, moderate
“Everybody should start downloading Litesprite, it’s life changing.” – M, 40, Anxiety/Depression
We are realizing our vision of building a series of digital therapeutic purpose-driven games that mitigate a range of chronic conditions starting with mental health, then cancer and diabetes. Our trusted self-care tools and unique patient data were changing care even before COVID-19, and have proved more valuable since.
Our technology scales care delivery and can produce analytical and predictive insights. Providing reimbursable, empathetic, and inspiring self-care tools for patients that provide timely health status remotely to medical professionals will be even more paramount. This will be a foundation of new healthcare delivery models during and after COVID-19. We are already defining this future. Join us and participate to accelerate our progress! Thank you for your support!
