Making Your Health Easier
MyMedicines.ie is a platform that will empower patients to manage their health and medication, and save money on their medical bill, making their lives easier and good health more affordable. We Save Patients Money by Creating an Interactive, Informational Patient Environment. We are Making Healthcare Easier for Patients.
We have seen firsthand the problem of crippling medication costs on patients – the inability of patients to fill out their prescriptions in full, patients only filling their prescriptions on alternate weeks/months, patients cutting pills in half for the prescription to last longer…Because of this, we have decided to develop a comprehensive drug directory, the iDR, to show patients how to save money on their medical bills. We are going to make your personal health easier and more affordable by providing you with the information you need.
Our website (for which you can register your interest at www.mymedicines.ie) will offer patients four key products. These are:
- Independent Medication Cost Comparator: Everyone loves saving money! By inputing your medication details (dosage, brand etc.), our Cost Comparator will show you cheaper prescription alternatives. The Comparator eliminates the need for “shopping around” for best prices, as it is powered by our trustworthy Patient Drugs Directory, which contains extensive information on 400,000 prescription and over the counter drugs. At a time when 1 in 5 people can’t afford to fill out their prescription, our Independent Cost Comparator is an invaluable tool, saving time and money.
- Patient Drugs Directory: Our Drugs Directory is a resource that patients can rely on. Our directory will contain all the information a patient could need on a given drug, from Amoxicilin to Zanax (I inserted names of medications that people may relate to more – keeping people engaged is key). The directory is based on www.idr.ie, a resource developed by us, and trusted by hospitals across Ireland and the UK. You will have an informational resource at your fingertips that can answer your prescription questions at a moments notice.
- Personal Health Record: Our Personal Health Record (PHR) will allow users to have immediate access to their own health records! The PHR will allow people to save their medical history online and carry it in their pocket. The PHR will contain details on users’ medication, primary and secondary care providers, and significant medical events. The record will be invaluable in the case of a user moving abroad, changing care providers taking a holiday, and in the case of a medical emergency. We will also allow for patients to share their information with their health care provider; this will make managing patients’ health easier for patients and health care providers.
- PatientPals: We will provide users with a community area, where they can share advice, support, and empower each other to self-manage their health, and encourage users to actively engage in discussion on medication.
Other features that will come online in the future will include an Health Care Provider Directory, Health News, Polls, and more.
We Know We Work
There have been many studies done that have shown the use of our products (cost comparator, PHR, patient community, educational material) can help increase compliance. By increasing cost transparency and providing easily accessed information medication compliance by patients increases. Also, as prescription medication can be expensive, having an informational resource on less expensive medication alternatives to both patients and physicians is important. Having the mymedicines.ie community can not only be an informational resource, but also a social community of support that helps in prescription compliance.
Who We Are
Peter is a pioneer in digital marketing and publishing and the creator of an extensive database of HCPs in UK, Ireland and EU. A Pharmacist with extensive knowledge of all areas of the profession, a marketeer with successful new launches in the EU. Peter is also the managing director of International Medical Information (http://www.medicalimi.com/), ICR-UK Ltd, Medical Update Online (http://www.medicalupdateonline.com/), and Health PR Zone (http://www.healthprzone.com/)
Eoghan is a UCD Law School and Innovation Academy graduate with experience of working in large-scale organisations; AIB; and as part of smaller teams on major projects; F.ounders’ Conference. He also has experience of handling considerable budgets, and putting together and leading teams, as Auditor of UCD Musical Society.
How We Will Use Your Money
We are currently working on the launch and development of the site. We have done a considerable amount on very little money so far: market research, branding, production of content for the site, development of a landing page, developing an online and offline marketing campaign. We need an injection of capital to help us deliver a site that will be as beneficial to patients as possible; unfortunately they don’t come cheap!
