The problem we solve: Wearables, Glucose Monitors and other devices output a lot of valuable data. The mere existence of the data is not sufficient to help people. The data needs to be usable and highly visible to motivate and inspire continual action and improvements leading to positive behavior change and habit creation.
About our solution: We believe that a combination of cues forms a collective solution that helps individuals engage in positive behavior change and habit forming. We believe a one-size-fits-all is a narrow approach. To this end, a good system, should provide visual cues, auditory cues and also have the ability to engage the user in physical activity, requiring tactile input. Competitive gaming to engage in improving habits that promote wellness is another avenue. Our solutions make a combination of these mechanisms. We have used wearable API data to display progress on physical dashboards. We have designed smart buttons that the user is required to push to acknowledge, for the completion of certain actions, such as medication for instance, or in the act of completing a physical activity. We are using open source AI tools to use audio to engage the user through reminders. We believe that in the end, a subset or a comprehensive use of various inputs and outputs will help the user.
Progress to date:In 2017, we completed two iterations of our Personal Heatlh Dashboard:
1. A completely visual, LED based, retro-style up-counter that takes wearable data and turns on more LED Goals as the user progresses towards their step goal. The backend is a Raspberry Pi Zero W, pulling data from Fitbit Wearables (we are wearable agnostic, as long as an API is available).
2. A step-down counter, using large LEDs, driven by an Arduino and a Raspberry Pi Zero W, to count down from a user's daily step goals, and display the steps remaining towards the daily goal.
The retro-style dashboards, do not use tablets, which would be an easy adoption, but can be easily distracting to the user, given they usually allow access to several other apps. Such dashboards as we construct, are not only cost-effective, but also specific and focused.
These two dashboards were exhibited at four different Maker Faires in New York, Ohio and the East Bay Area, to solicit feedback. This is now being used to further improve the designs. The designs are open source and have been written up in articles.
Scoreboard: We are extending our retro-dashboard, to design scoreboards, which will display wearable data (such as step count) from two or more users, to aid in competitive wellness practices.
Tactile Product: Previously, we have designed a button based system, to prompt the user to move around an area and identify a button, among many that triggers a mild auditory alarm. We are reviving and upgrading the design of this array of buttons to encourage the user to move more, but also as medication reminders, among others.
AIY+Voice: Combining the Google AIY Kit and the Raspberry Pi, we are developing a product that would cue the user based on wearable data, medication plans, etc. to urge them to take actions at appropriate times.
Our newer products will also be displayed at select Maker Faires, both to educate the public, but also to solicit valuable feedback from them.

Market Size
The Total Market for Wearables will breach $50bn this year. By some estimates, the diabetes monitoring market would reach $15bn. by 2022. We believe that our specialized devices will have a market opportunity of about $1bn by 2025, combining the various forms of data sources used and the types of dashboards and aids applied.
Projected 3 Year Growth
With the right partners, we believe that we can reach 25% of our market within 2 years, bringing us in the range of $50mn at that point. We expect about $25mn of this to be revenues that can be injected back towards our growth.
How We Will Make Money
Our potential partners include hospitals, healthcare providers, heatlhcare support organizations and others. Through our partners, our devices can be customized and distributed. The devices, customizations and upgrades will be our streams of revenue. The main purpose of the revenues is to expand our range of devices and scale our manufacturing. Grants and healthcare providers can subsidize 100% of the costs to end-users
About our Competition
Our competition would come through apps and tablets on one end, and anyone who tries to undercut our prices through our own open-sourced designs. We believe that apps have an attention span issue, and tablets can generate more distraction issues. We will use this as our key differentiators. In addition, we ourselves continue to optimize our designs for cost, depending on architectures and hardware that help us keep costs down to a minimum. Plus, with our ability to allow our users readily integrate their devices to our dashboards through their APIs with ease, we believe we can acquire and keep our customers engaged in their wellness plans.
Progress with Customers to date
We have taken our first generation of products directly to the public eye and have received great feedback on the potential of our devices to be adopted, and used for engagement in their regular health monitoring plans. Interest from those already used to wearables was particularly high. This is encouraging for us, when we reach the growth phase.
New Orleans and Our Company
We are already used to being a virtual company, with members spread across coasts. As brothers and collaborators, engaged over several years with each other, we would be happy to work with the New Orleans committee. We would be happy to make the necessary arrangements to be there for rollouts, troubleshooting, and with enough traction, to make the move to the New Orleans area, if that allows us to grow and serve the entire US market.
Our products will have a direct impact on communities looking at wellness plans everywhere, and definitely in New Orleans everywhere. We would love New Orleans to help us launch ourselves and get recognition among patients and communities.
Intellectual Property Summary
We are completely opensourcing our designs currently. If you use them, recognition and feedback is appreciated, but not required. The feedback helps us put out more usable products.
The reasoning we apply is that the designs themselves can be replicated easily. The power is in promoting engagement, which only happens working closely with adopters, and not just by rolling out devices onto markets. This is where we will be able to provide differentiation.
Clinical Information
No. We would love for individuals and institutions to help us with this. This is personally funded, but we are looking at building a small number of devices and assess their use in positive behavior modification and habit forming.
Regulatory Status
Not Applicable.
How we will use the funds raised
We will use funds in the following key areas:
1. Build more systems.
2. Upgrade systems.
3. Recruit users for studies
4. Publish Data and Results.
