The problem we solve: Over 194 million Americans live with chronic conditions that often involve fluctuating symptoms not reflected in standard lab work during clinical visits (CDC, 2023). Patients with conditions like POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), autoimmune diseases, and ADHD-linked metabolic issues frequently report symptom flares such as dizziness, fatigue, chest pressure, or brain fog that are episodic, hard to capture, and often dismissed. Despite increased access to digital health portals, only 14% of patients feel confident interpreting their lab results (Sarkar et al., Journal of General Internal Medicine, 2020). This disconnect contributes to diagnostic delays averaging 4 to 7 years for rare or complex illnesses (NIH GARD, 2021). Providers lack integrated tools that overlay symptom flares, vitals, and lab changes across time, making it harder to recognize emerging patterns or flare-related organ stress.
About our solution: Owlfred Health connects symptom flares, lab values, and vital signs on a smart timeline to reveal hidden patterns like kidney function drops during flares or inflammation spikes linked to fatigue. With clear visuals and personalized reports, Owlfred empowers patients and clinicians to catch trends early and close the diagnostic gap.
Progress to date:
Owlfred Health is in the pre-seed, research and development (R&D) phase, with development actively underway in partnership with SumatoSoft. We’ve completed initial wireframes, a full product specification draft, and visual branding. The core features, including symptom and flare tracking, lab pattern analysis, and caregiver-friendly reports, are mapped and entering development.
While we have not yet secured outside funding, this campaign will be the first step in building public support and early-stage capital. We are laying the foundation for a beta launch and plan to involve patients, caregivers, and clinicians directly in upcoming testing phases to ensure real-world relevance and usability.

Owlfred Health empowers people with chronic illness and diagnostic uncertainty by giving them tools to track their health clearly, communicate more effectively with doctors, and uncover patterns often missed in traditional care. By uniting symptom journaling, vitals tracking, lab result interpretation, and personalized AI insights in one app, Owlfred bridges the gap between patients and providers.
For many, Owlfred becomes the missing piece that validates lived experiences, reduces diagnostic delays, and helps catch lab, vitals and flare patterns earlier. As patients share their Owlfred health logs with doctors, we anticipate stronger partnerships, better care planning, and earlier interventions that can prevent worsening conditions.
For physicians managing patients with complex chronic illnesses, a primary challenge is the lack of visibility into the patient's life between appointments. Care plans are often built on incomplete information, and patient engagement can be low.
Owlfred solves this by empowering patients to become active, informed partners in their own care. Our platform helps providers by:
Building a More Complete Picture: Owlfred captures the day-to-day nuances of a patient's health journey: symptoms, side effects, triggers; providing a holistic view that is impossible to gather in a brief office visit.
Facilitating Shared Decision-Making: When a patient comes to an appointment with a clear summary of their health data from Owlfred, it elevates the conversation. The provider and patient can collaboratively identify patterns and make evidence-based decisions together, improving the therapeutic alliance.
Reducing Unnecessary Communication: By helping patients understand their own conditions better, they can often self-manage minor issues and know when it's truly necessary to contact their provider, leading to more efficient communication and reduced administrative burden.
Hospitals face rising costs, delayed diagnoses, and challenges coordinating care for complex patients. Owlfred Health addresses these problems by connecting symptoms, labs, vitals, and medications into a single patient timeline. This helps reduce diagnostic delays, avoid unnecessary tests, and support more accurate decision-making.
For hospitals, this means:
• Reduced diagnostic delays: Owlfred detects patterns across patient-reported symptoms and lab results, helping clinicians catch flare signals or disease progression earlier. Faster answers improve outcomes and reduce costly misdiagnoses.
• Improved care coordination: Patients with chronic illness often see multiple specialists. Owlfred generates clear, clinician-ready summaries that streamline communication across departments, lowering duplication and inefficiency.
• Patient engagement and adherence: By empowering patients to track symptoms and prepare questions through Owlfred and its community hub The Nest, hospitals benefit from more engaged patients who follow care plans and achieve better outcomes, critical for value-based care.
• Research and innovation support: Hospitals with academic or research missions gain access to de-identified, aggregated patient trend data, positioning them as leaders in AI-driven, patient-centered innovation. This can unlock new grants, partnerships, and institutional recognition.
• Financial and operational impact: Owlfred reduces avoidable ER visits, lowers readmission risk, and supports proactive care. Hospitals save on costs while demonstrating leadership in digital health.
In short, Owlfred helps hospitals deliver earlier answers, smoother care, and stronger patient relationships, while advancing research and lowering costs.
Intellectual Property Summary
While a provisional patent has not yet been filed, we are treating key elements of our platform as trade secrets. Owlfred Health includes a novel system for identifying correlations between symptoms, labs, and flares using AI-powered insights. We are currently exploring formal intellectual property protections.
Clinical Information
While Owlfred Health is in the R&D phase, our innovation builds on a strong foundation of peer-reviewed research supporting digital symptom tracking, patient-generated health data (PGHD), and AI-assisted insights for individuals with complex chronic conditions like POTS, autoimmune disorders, and CKD.
Several studies validate the importance of symptom journaling and lab-trend correlation in earlier diagnoses, better disease control, and improved patient-clinician communication:
• Banaee et al. (2013) emphasized the value of wearable and mobile tech in early detection and proactive care. PubMed link
• Sarkar et al. (2020) found that only 14% of patients understand their lab results via portals, pointing to the need for better visualization and interpretation tools. J Gen Intern Med
• Schaefer et al. (2022) showed that structured PGHD improves clinician trust and engagement in managing complex chronic illness. J Med Internet Res
Owlfred aims to operationalize these insights into a user-friendly MVP prototype that integrates symptom timelines, lab value trends, and AI-driven alerts. We are actively planning beta testing with patient and clinician feedback to ensure usability and clinical relevance.
Regulatory Status
Owlfred Health is a wellness and symptom-tracking software platform currently in the R&D stage. It does not provide diagnostic or treatment services and is not intended for use as a medical device. As such, FDA clearance is not currently required. If the platform evolves to include features that may fall under FDA oversight, appropriate steps will be taken to ensure compliance.
How we will use the funds raised
The funds will directly support development of the Owlfred MVP, a secure, HIPAA-compliant health data platform to help patients with chronic illness uncover patterns in symptoms, labs, and treatment history. Partnering with SumatoSoft, we’ve budgeted for complete app development, AI integration, and clinical/patient feedback loops to ensure both safety and usability. $496,800.00

Thank You
Hi friends,
I’m building Owlfred Health, a smart and compassionate health tracker designed for people with chronic illness and diagnostic uncertainty. Owlfred connects your symptoms, labs, vitals, and medications, and finds patterns you can share with your doctor to help speed up answers.
Owlfred isn’t just an app, it’s the missing link in chronic care.
We’re creating a tool that empowers patients to track what matters, spot early-warning signs, and feel less alone in their journey. If you believe in better tools for people living with complex conditions, I’d be so grateful for your vote and support.
Thank you,
Julie
