About our project
What is MyHealthPal?
It’s a personal healthcare initiative for the effective management of long term conditions and chronic illness.
It’s for patients, carers, family, friends and medical staff to allow them to participate and support through myHealthPal CareCircles.
It’s to solve real issues and make a lasting difference.
It’s been created to work using dedicated apps for each condition, such as Parkinson’s, and will run on Apple or Android devices.
It’s been created to work using compatible watches, for those who cannot use touchscreens on smart phones.
We believe MyHealthPal is unlike anything created before. We aim to:
- Help empower people through increasing their self-awareness, understanding and analysis of conditions.
- Provide a support network for people and their caregivers.
- Assist with research for long-term conditions, powering breakthroughs for several ailments.
Why We Need Funding
Till date, MyHealthPal has been funded by its founder, but to develop our app for other ailments and to develop the technologies (notification watches and bracelets for users) we need some help!
We are very close to the release of our first app for Parkinson’s which will run on iPhone, iPad & Android devices as well as the launch of our new user portal. We estimate their launch by the end of Q1 2013.
We’re also working to develop a healthcare watch and a bracelet. These devices will allow reminders to be delivered directly to users who don’t utilize smartphones. Our watches and bracelets will send medication reminders and monitor vital signs. They will also have notification capabilities — in the event that the wearer falls, caregivers will be notified. Our expected release date of the Watch (v1) with integrated reminders is Q4 2013.
Because our service and apps are essentially free*, we have created this funding request. We would rather use all the money raised for the development of the MyHealthPal app, instead of using it to buy T-Shirts to give away. Our overall fundraising campaign amounts to a target value of 250K, but we are attempting to accomplish this in bite size chunks.
