About our project

Raise your hand if you know someone who has had a mastectomy, breast augmentation or reconstructive surgery? Recovery from these surgeries is uncomfortable and can be a rather drab experience.

But, it doesn’t have to be!

Adoriwear was developed for the fashionably-concious patient who wants to recover in style!

How We Got Started

Someone close to me had breast surgery in 2009. The doctor put her in a compression bra for six weeks following the surgery and it was comfortable but boring. She searched for something else that would work but all she could find was white, gray or black options. This young lady was in her twenties and living in Florida, she wanted something bright and attractive. She was in shock that the breast surgery road to recovery could not be a fashionable one. Why?

Three years after that surgery she and I searched again one weekend, just out of curiosity. Surely someone had made a fashionable medical bra by now, right? Wrong!

That was enough reason for me. We went to the fabric store and started brainstorming. I went to school for costume design and was a pretty proficient sewer. She told me all the things required after her surgery and what the bra needed to do. That week I started making protoypes and sending them to her. Two months later AdoriWear was off and running. AdoriWear was started in June of 2012.

Now, one year later, AdoriWear has had the pleasure of helping women work through their recovery in style. We currently have two types of bras in nine fashionable fabrics.

What Is So Special About Our Bras

Our innovative designs feature:

  • SkinGentle cotton/lycra bases – The base of the bra consists of a 92% cotton and 8% spandex blend with four-way stretchability. Silicone insert pockets are available as an optional layer with seamless comfort.
  • Dynamic racer back support systems – The wide cut T-shaped back design assists in improving posture and breast support by shifting all weight to the appropriate section of the center back.
  • Front closures – Adding the closure to the front of the garment reduces the amount of strain placed on the treatment site when dressing.
  • Exquistite fashion patterns – Patterns are hand selected to be seasonally appropriate and to match the latest fashion trends.
  • Machine washable fabrics – Machine wash delicate with like colors. Line dry or machine dry low heat. Fabric colors will not fade or bleed.

Who We Are

AdoriWear is a family run business based out of Central Pennsylvania. We manufacture and sell post surgical compression wear for patients recovering from breast surgery. Our front closure bra designs go beyond the typical black, white and gray options. They are made out of fashion fabrics that rotate on a seasonal basis. AdoriBras provide the best possible comfort and support during recovery for women who have experienced a mastectomy or any type of breast augmentation. Our mission is to add a dash of feminine style to recovery. To see our products visit our site.

Where Will The Money Go

Our first style of compression bras has been very well received. We currently offer our bras online and through participating medical facilities. We would love to take our business to the next level. In order to do this we need capital for the following areas:

  • National marketing: including online promotion, mail advertising to surgeons, attending conferences as exhibitors.
  • Retail selling: Fulfill all necessary requirements including GS1 UPC code registration, Barcode software & hardware, Retail Inventory software.
  • Medicare: Fulfill all requirements to be included in the Medicare’s Durable Medical Equipment, Prosthetics, Orthotics, and Supplies (DMEPOS) directory.
  • JCAHO: Obtain The Joint Commission’s Home Care Accreditation to provide medical supplies in the home or through the mail.
