Chicago HealthTECH is a unique opportunity for organizations to participate in the first medical device and digital health crowdfunding program in Chicago. We invite you to show support for the healthcare innovation ecosystem by directly backing revolutionary new healthcare solutions in this online project showcase and at the Chicago HealthTECH Summit on October 23, 2014.
Key dates
- September 15, 2014: Announcement of the five medical device and digital health startup finalists who will participate in the crowdfunding showcase.
- September 23, 2014: The project showcase will go live and accept individual contributions. The showcase will be open for one month leading up to the event.
- October 23, 2014: Chicago HealthTECH Summit event and onsite backing by Gold sponsors.

Why A Crowdfunding Competition and not a Business Plan Competition?
There are a lot of business plan competitions and not many crowdfunding competitions—yet. We want to change that in Chicago so that as our health innovation ecosystem grows, so does the variety of funding opportunities and exposure for rising stars in medical and digital health technology.
Crowdfunding engages potential stakeholders early in technology development to help startups refine their products, identify market opportunities, and potentially provide stakeholders with direct access to test out the product before it is on the market. We want our project teams to understand the needs of patients, physicians, nurses, and other stakeholders AND have a great business model. In addition to raising funds, we believe that having the crowd vet ideas will result in better innovations that improve lives.
We are seeking Gold (more than $5,000 total backing amount) and Silver $1000-$5,000 total backing amount) to help raise visibility of early stage healthcare solutions and support the advancement of technology that can have a real impact in people’s lives. This opportunity provides your organization with exclusive access to help shape the future of innovative healthcare startups sponsors to support health tech innovators in this competition. These sponsorships will supplement backing received from individual project supporters to help teams be successfully funded.

Sponsorship Details and Rewards
Silver
Silver level sponsors will be asked to back the project(s) of their choice online through the MedStartr site before the Summit.
Sponsorship benefits at this level include:
- Sponsor logo and description included in the event program
- Sponsor logo on MedStartr Chicago HealthTECH Summit showcase page
- Special recognition with company name and logo on the Chicago HealthTECH Summit website
- Option to provide an additional onsite giveaway item to attendees or crowdfunding participants {per host approval}
- Access to early stage companies to preview and advise on products not yet on the market
Gold
Gold level sponsors will have the option to back project(s) through the online showcase or onsite at the Chicago HealthTECH Summit. Gold sponsorship donations must be collected through Medstartr before the event. Gold level sponsors will have exclusive access to showcase participants to discuss the projects in more detail.
Sponsor rewards at this level include all the benefits of Silver sponsorship, in addition to:
- VIP Meet-and-greet with crowdfunding competitors before the event
- Sponsor logo on signage at the event
- Special recognition during the Chicago HealthTECH Summit and on t-shirts given as a reward to backers during crowdfunding. To have your organization’s logo included, you must commit to being a sponsor by September 1, 2014.
- Option to provide an additional onsite prize(s) to the startup(s) you back onsite {per host approval}
