About our project

The Walking Gallery continues to grow. More and more people want to join the movement and more artists want to paint. It is time for the gallery to have a place to call home.

The Location

The Walking Gallery Center for Art and Healing will be located in the scenic beauty of Grantsville, Maryland, located on the National Road, “America’s First Highway.” The first choice in property that we would like to secure is over 100 years old and was once owned by the town’s Doctor and his artist wife. This crowd fund will form the seed capitol for this endeavor.


The Program

The center will have a gallery space available for rental, classroom space for art, music, fitness and dance. The building will initially have two bedrooms and one small studio/apt for artists in residence, recovering cancer patients or visiting patient advocates. The building will also have a gathering space that will assist community socializing and learning through play. In addition, our goal is to host corporate retreats, conference events and health camps with many of the major voices involved in the participatory medicine. The Center will host The Walking Gallery of Healthcare’s annual gathering.


The Mission

This center will help the local community explore their personal health goals and artistic selves as well as create a space for those seeking to reignite their passion for positive change in health care. Our long term goal is to see this center and its programs become a destination for retreats and conferences focused innovative thought on the intersection of art, health and technology.
